It has well furnished and ventilated classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and a rich library, internet facility, adequate number of clean toilet blocks, play grounds, a health centre, well preserved trees, lawns and landscapes, experienced, qualified and devoted teaching and supporting staff.
Nearly 50% of the total strength are female students; nearly 50% of the total strength are backward cast and class students. The College is a mini-India, accommodating students coming from all over the country due to the employment opportunities in HAL, IAF, Railways, State and Central Govt. offices and the Industries around.
The percentage of the examination results is very good, some students standing as University rankers.
The College does its best and most to contribute to National Development through serving the cause of social justice and ensuring equity by providing access to education to socially and economically backward students. Thanks to their education, the students’ standard of living is enhanced.
The college does sincere efforts to develop life skills and core competencies among the students which are on par with their counterparts elsewhere so that they can face the requirements and challenges in the liberalised, privatised and globalised world.
Through appropriate NSS, NCC, curricular and extra-curricular (cultural) activities, the College imbibes appropriate value systems among the students emphasizing universal values like truth rightiouness, cooperation, mutual understanding, sence of justice and equity, etc.
We are aware that we live in the era of science, technology and commerce in which traditional methods of delivering education and governance have become less effective and less motivating for the stakeholders in the College. Therefore, through the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department, internet, intercom, telephone, services the College spreads ICT literacy among the students, teachers and supporting staff and makes them use ICT in all their activities.
We also facilitate distance education through our study centre of YCMOU (Yeshwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University), Nashik for the students who cannot do regular courses of the Pune University because of their own reasons. Thanks to this study centre these students’ dream of becoming graduates is realised.
In short, this college does whatever it can to develop itself into a centre of excellence. In other words, we quest for excellence in all that we do in and off the college….
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bengaluru, accredited the College in March 2012 and awarded it with B grade. The College is very soon undergoing the third cycle of NAAC reaccredition process.

History says that the credit for the birth of goes to the young, enthusiastic and devoted team of social workers and educationists who were inspired by the lives of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule and Rajashri Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur. These young leading lights include Karmaveer Raosaheb Thorat, Bhausaheb Hire, Kakasaheb Wagh, Annasaheb Murkute, Ganpat Dada More, D.R.Bhonsale, Kirtiwanrao Nimbalkar and Vithoba Patil Khandalaskar, who laid the foundation of the Samaj. They were the men who envisioned a culture and knowledge centric society. The motto of the Samaj reads for the well being and happiness of the masses to kindle the social cause.

The revolutionary thought of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule ‘There is no other alternative but education for social change’ created an awareness about education in the common masses of Maharashtra. The same thought was pursued by the great thinker reformers like, His Highness Rajarshee Shahu Maharaj, His Highness Shreemant Sayajirao Gaikwad Maharaj, Maharshee Vitthal Ramji Shinde, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Dr. Karmveer Bhaurao Patil, Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh and others.
All these dignitaries were great visionaries who firmly believed that unless the channels of education, from pre-primary to higher level, are opened, the light of knowledge will not reach the doors of the rural masses. The followers of this tradition-Karmveer Raosaheb Thorat, Karmveer Ganpatdada More, D.R. Bhosale and others initiated the task of spreading education by starting ‘Udoji Maratha Hostel’ in 1914. It was a significant beginning of the future Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj.
It was in 1913 that All India Maratha Education Conference was organized in Nashik, where His Highness Shreemant Udojirao Pawar of Dhar Residency donated Rs. 10,000/- that strengthened the very foundation of the Institution. In order to stabilize the work of the Institution, His Highness started a grant of Rs. 2,000/- per annum. Rajarshee Shahu Maharaj donated Rs.15, 000/-, Shreemant Sayajirao Gaikwad Maharaj Rs.12000/-, His Highness Shreemant Madhavrao Maharaj of Gwalior Residency Rs. 10000/-, the then industrialist Pandurang Javaji Chaudhari of Bombay Rs. 3000/- so as to enable the Institution to expand its educational work. “Bahujan Hitaya, Bahujan Sukhaya” – for the Welfare and Happiness of the common Masses is the motto of the Institution. To follow this motto, the social workers like Shankarrao Kadam Kanaladkar, Bhausaheb Hiray, Kakasaheb Wagh, Annasaheb Murkute came forward. The institution gained name and fame in a short time due to its well organized and disciplined planning implementing various educational schemes. Since various donors and social workers belonging to various places generously helped the institution a small plant of the institution began to flourish and blossom.
MVP Samaj manages more than 340 educational & professional institutions. The spectrum of educational institution encompasses Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Graduate & Postgraduate conventional Colleges, Professional & Vocational Colleges. The total strength of students is over 1,77,344.
The year 1964 was celebrated as the Golden Jubilee year. The year 2014 is to be celebrated as the centenary. The qualitative and quantitative sky rocketing development of the Institution is simply wonderful.
The contribution and devotion of ex-officios and in-officios as well as the members of the Managing Council have made this possible.
The Government of Maharashtra felicitated the Institution by giving State Award to honour its educational and social work. Recently Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik praised the institution by giving it ‘Punjabrao Deshmukh Award.’ Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj organized 78th Akhil Bartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan on its campus in 2004.
