Committee for SC / ST

The SC/ST committee of the College established with the purpose to empower the SC/ST students in the College. This unit functions to fulfil the institutional assurance of equality in opportunity through various academic and non-academic activities designed specifically for the upliftment of this community which helps to dissolve the lines of social and economic disparity. The students are given the chance to approach the committee to clear their queries and get their grievances addressed.

Committee ensures the effective implementation of the policies and programmes of the Government of India, UGC and State Governments with regard to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. It also suggests measures for achieving the objectives laid down by the various government agencies.

OBJECTIVES

  • To monitor the implementation of reservation policy of the state and central government during admission to the institution.
  • To ensure there is no caste-based discrimination in our college.
  • To create awareness among the SC/ST students regarding various scholarship programs of the State Government and UGC.
  • To counsel and guide SC/ ST students and help them to manage academic and personal issues of college life effectively.
  • To redress the grievances of SC/ST students, if any.
  • To enhance the employability of SC/ST students by providing appropriate career guidance. Activities

Activities

  • The cell gives guidelines to the office staff regarding admission of SC and ST students
  • The cell discussed about various scholarships that can be given to the students
  • Disseminates information about the schemes of Government and University
  • The students are motivated to join skill development programmes in the College

MECHANISM

  • Committee often meets the students and faculties belonging to SC/ST communities, to understand their problem and take necessary action and/or render them necessary advice/help to resolve the matter.
  • Creating awareness among the SC/ST students regarding the various Government and Non-Government scholarship schemes.
  • Counselling the students to help them overcome inferiority complex related to interaction with fellow students and personal grooming, etc.
