Wagh delivered a lecture on ‘Problems of Population growth and measures for minimize its effects in India’. Prof M.B.Thakare introduced her. Dr.S.D.Pagar revealed the aim of celebrating 11th July as the World Population Day and also highlight the various programmes and activities which are conducted during the each year in the Department of Geography. Prin.Smt.S.T. Wagh stated that  the World population was 100 crore in 1850. It took 200 years to become 200 crore because the birth rate was marginally higher than death rate. Later on, development in 20th century raised the standard of living and the world population reached up to 400 crore. The figure further reached 500 crore on July 1987. Many issues were arising due to increasing population at that time. Today, world population is more than 705 crore. This population increasing rate affects world’s social, economic and political sectors and national progress. The problem of population has become more critical on local and national level now. Chinese government has imposed certain restrictions on population growth. But, India will overtake China in population in a few years due to lack of ideal decisions and restrictions in this regard. Number of campaigns and programmes that are being taken by the Indian government to bring public awareness about family planning, are seen failing to achieve their objective, Prin. Wagh added. Vice Principal R H Thakare, Prof S T Wagh, Prof.P.L.Gulve,Prof.S.B.Gaikawad,Dr.Y.M.Salunke.Prof.Smt.S.E.Brahamankar,Prof.Shalakeand Prof.V.K. Chavan were present for the programme.
